THE TEAM

THE CAPTAIN

Since January 2013, Susanne Richter has been at the helm as Executive Director. She has been leading the Museum team to bring the heritage of the St. Lawrence River, the Thousand Islands and the magic spirit of the region to life through Museum exhibits, educational programs, activities and special events.

Susanne brings a wealth of experience to the job including the federal Museum system, project management, advertising and fundraising.

THE QUARTER MASTER

Rebecca Keyes is the Museum Manager, and keeps the day to day Museum operations humming along like a fine tuned outboard motor! Her background, training and experience in business management and woodworking skills fit perfectly with the demands of this role.

She oversees the daily activities of the woodworking/boat restoration/building programs, as well as supervising the summer students, the volunteer cohort, the summer children’s educational and arts program, and the 2015 Exhibits, and assists with planning special events such as the annual Boat Parade.

THE SUMMER CREW

Since the beginning, the Museum has provided summer employment to a youthful crew of local high school and post-secondary students. It is amazing to see these young people so genuinely interested in their heritage and what the region has to offer.

Boat Museum summer students welcome visitors and lead guided tours of the docks and boats, help plan and run special events, work in the Boat Shop Café, clean boats and look after the grounds.

There wasn’t a single day this summer that I woke up and didn’t want to go to work. I love this place. I learned so much working on and around the old boats….
